The needle is the pinnacle of Coravin’s technology. Each Coravin needle is specially designed to gently pierce through natural or agglomerated corks without displacing cork material. This allows you to pour wine without opening the bottle and spoiling the wine. Once the needle is removed, the cork simply expands back to its normal shape – sealing the bottle for weeks, months, even years.
Coravin needles are present on all Coravin Timeless systems – like Timeless Three and Timeless Six. We also have needles specifically for our connected Timeless Eleven device. As wine is extracted through the needle, it is replaced with pure argon gas, ensuring oxygen never touches the remaining wine, keeping it as fresh as the day it was bottled.

Coravin Standard Needle
When you purchase a Coravin Timeless system, it comes with the Coravin Standard Needle. On average, a 5-ounce (150mL) pour of wine with a Standard Needle will take 25 to 29 seconds. The Coravin Timeless Eleven has its own Standard Need – shop here.
Coravin Fast Pour Needle
The Coravin Fast Pour Needle has a wider design, allowing you to pour your favorite wines 20% faster than the Standard Needle (25 to 29 seconds to pour). The Coravin Timeless Eleven has a separate Fast Pour Needle that is only compatible with this system because the automatic pour feature requires the needle to have two chambers. Shop here.
Coravin Vintage Needle
The Coravin Vintage Needle has a thinner design, ideal for use on older bottles and wines with more fragile corks. Its gentle insertion will keep the oldest bottles in your collection’s corks perfectly intact. Because the needle is thinner, expect a 5-ounce pour to take 30 seconds or longer.

How long does a Coravin needle last?
Think it’s time to replace your needle? Check the bottom of the needle (where it inserts into the cork). You’ll know it’s time when the non-stick coating begins to wear off and the Needle starts to appear silver in color. This should not happen for 100+ pours and, as long as you are using your system correctly, you should not experience any bends or breaks.

How should I store my extra needles?
When not in use, the best way to store extra needles is in the packaging they came in. If you purchased an extra single needle, store it in the clear tube it came in. If you purchased the Needle Kit, keep it in the box. If you have the Coravin Pedestal Base, you can store needles for all Coravin models except the Timeless Eleven in the drawer of that base.
